Here are some details and hopefully some tips of our experience:

Document Intake:
We arrived at 10:00am although we were supposed to show up at 12:30pm. We were first in line (stay all the way to the far left, the lines to the right are for people that have missing documents, non-immigration, etc). The single line became 3 lines as more people started coming. They let us in about 12:20pm and we entered the building, headed left, and went up an escalator a few times. I was stopped since I had a US passport. My wife (already has a greencard) was allowed to accompany our 10 year old daughter. They got a number and sat down and were called around 1pm and they were the first number called. She was with the visa officer for about 10 minutes, they were primarily interested in my tax returns and income information. She sat down and waited for fingerprints. Around 1:30, her number was called and they instructed her that children do not need their fingerprints taken. I met my wife and daughter on the 4th floor coffee shop around 1:40. The packet she came out with was stapled with a green sticker, and had a 7:30am time on it, with a number. My wife said the visa officer was friendly and polite.

Interview:
We arrived at 5:30am and they let people in around 7:20am. There were a few hundred people outside by this time, and it was pretty shocking to be honest. My wife and stepdaughter were not interviewed first although they were last in line so I don't necessarily think it's as important to be here as early. My wife and stepdaughter were called around 8:10am. She said the entire room stood up and swore they would tell the truth when asked questions (this was around 8am). The following questions were asked to my wife:

1. Can I see your passport and interview form?
2. Can I see your pictures? (three pictures were looked at and returned)
3. Are you the girl's mother?
4. When did you get married?
5. Where do you live? Can you write down the address?
6. Does your driver's license show your home address?
7. Did you have another address on your previous license? What address was this? (Visa officer googled the business address and talked about the business)
8. How far is your job from your house?
9. How many people live with you at home?
10. Is there a grocery store nearby? What is the address of it or tell me some shops/names of places near this grocery store?
11. Can you drive to this grocery store?
12. Is there an airport near your house?
13. When did you arrive in Guangzhou?
14. When do you plan on leaving Guangzhou?
15. Congratulations! You were granted a visa!

My wife said the visa officer was nice but at the same time, a little serious. My stepdaughter was not asked a single question, even though the visa was for her.

Thanks everybody for all your help and your valuable input!
