Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Firstly I will state that one week prior to my interview date, I was contacted by Mrs. Darling from the US embassy in Nassau. She wanted to advise me as to any additional documents I needed to bring to the interview as well as what time I needed to be there prior to the interview. There is no parking available at the embassy so to avoid any delays you can park at the Hilton, they charge $10 dollars for all day parking.

I arrived at 10:15AM, (they will take your cell phones at the security check point)checked in with security. I advised that I had an appointment and needed to see Mrs. Darling. Please advise everyone that you are interviewing for an IMMIGRANT visa there are different rules for the NON-IMMIGRANT Tourist visa.

I went into the waiting area to where I was asked to wait for Mrs. Darling. She showed up within 5 minutes where I handed her the documents she requested me to bring. She asked me to wait for my name to be called by an interviewer. I waited another 5 minutes and was called to the window. They took my finger prints and then I was asked about 7 questions:

How and where we met?
Where was our first date?
Was either of us married before?
Names of my step children?
My husbands occupation?
Where we got married and why the location?
Where we got engaged?

I showed pictures from both the engagement and the wedding immediately following she said you are approved return at 12 noon to pick up your passport. She gave me a pink slip to give to the guards upon my return. Again do advise that you are picking up an IMMIGRANT visa since the NONIMMIGTANT visa has a restricted pick up time.

So I would say that the entire process was really easy and everyone was very accomodating.
