The whole experience was so much easier than I anticipated, each staff member I had contact with was helpful and friendly, the hardest part was calming my nerves and remembering to breathe.
Hearing the interviews of others was helpful, in that it gave me insight into what to expect with my own interview, what questions I may be asked ect.
If the interviewer required further clarification, this was done so with respect and the applicant was allowed time to answer, the interviewing officers gave the impression that they were there to help you, not hinder you.
I would have to say that some of the interviews I heard gave the impression of being a formality.
In my case I had one area that required further clarification, I answered concisely as possible, considering my nerves, and the gentleman that interviewed me assured me that all was good.
I had taken two folders of evidence and such, he said with a smile, that he was sure it would make for good reading, but seeing as how he has approved my petition, he would not need to.
He said to allow 10 days for the visa to reach me, he advised not to book my flights until I had my visa in hand.
He explained the procedure at POE and not to open the envelope that is included with the visa.
He then said "Welcome to the US".
I walked out of there as if in a dream, did that really happen!?, after all the frustration, and the 322 days leading up to this day, I felt overwhelmed.
The staff down on Level 10 were friendly and asked the outcome, congratulations and smiles added to the positive experience.
To all those waiting for the day of your interview, it will be easier than you imagine, the staff are there to make the process a positive one, I should think that they get satisfaction from granting approvals and sending people on their way to loved ones.
Have a great day!!
