Overall it is a good experience for my wife. I didn't go back to china to accompany her for the interview. During preparation, I found a Chinese forum website for US immigration visas. It has some useful information, but some of them might not up to date, so you have to check the dates of posts.

She arrived Guangzhou two days before the appointment document intake date. Since she has a friend lives close to the consulate, so didn't have to worry about lodging.
Took the medical exam next day. Very similar to the experience in http://usa.bbs.net/bbs/01/964446.html?ne=1&ni=1 .
Document intake day: There was a severe thunder storm on that day and very heavy rain. She decided not to go there early and wait in the line outside. So she only gets there around 12:15 and waited for her turn inside (about 2.5 hours since she is near end of queue). We used Electronic processing, they took our documents required in the interview letter, i.e. visa photos, IV application forms (Part I and II), ALL the white book certificates (they asked you to tear off the white book covers), my AOS forms and documents (including 2011 tax return copy which was not submitted to NVC). The officer also asked her a few questions: who is her sponsor? Does she speaks English? Have she visited US or other countries before? what is the purpose of US visit? .. nothing out of the interview questions you would prepare for.
Interview day: Again it was a raining day and she only arrived consulate just before they let people in around 7:30am. Most of time were waiting. The interview only took less than 10 minutes. She was asked only a few questions: Were you a CCP member? How do you know each other? (introduced by a mutual friend in US). She showed a photo of her friend and I. Have you visited US before? (yes, business visa for work). VO noticed that she studied aboard before, asked about what and where did she study? How was the experience? The VO sometimes was looking at the computer or documents during the questioning, she felt a little bit weird. And told her everything is good. We didn't frontload lots of evidences during I-130, but some usual supporting stuff with DS-230.
