Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
My Interview was scheduled for 17th of October 8.30 AM. I was prepared my self with all the documents like Birth certificate, police certificate, affidavit, and visa payment slip etc. I reached the consulate at 8.25 and there were few visitors in the line.
So the process start when you reach the counter, I showed the officer my invitation letter and the passport, he search in his appointment book and figure out my name in the list then he gave me a computer generated number.
Then you go through the security check leading to the big waiting room. The big waiting room have two parts one is for the US citizen and consulate special services (I guess the services like DCF) and the big portion is for the visa and immigration service, here you have to wait until your number get called.
I think you always going to get called to the window 23 for the first time. I was get called with in 5 minutes for the first time to the window number 23 and the lady collect the visa payment slip, the passport and one photo, in return she gave me an envelop and said I have to write the German postal address and put €4.25 stamp on it and I should wait until my number get called again.
The long waiting started, it takes more than one hour to get called again and the officer first go through the important entries in the visa application form like your name, father name etc. and make sure very thing is ok. After wards she is going to collect the documents in order birth certificate, police clearance certificate, affidavit and she is going to explain the condition regarding the K1 visa and what you have to do in the POE, AOS etc also she is going to ask did you made any travel arrangement, I thing if you say a date then the consulate is going to respect the date to issue the visa. Finally she said I have to wait for my number gets called again and the officer going to do the final visa interview.
I get called in 5 minutes for the final interview. The officer asks me which language I prefer? He went through the documents couple of times, takes my fingerprints and asked few questions like
What do I do in Germany?
What do I would like to do in the US?
Where did I meat my fiancée?
Do I propose her in Germany?
If I ever been to the US?
If I ever meet the parents of my fiancée? And where they live?
I had to read the oath from the form DS-156K and sign in the front of the officer. That’s all he said every thing looks fine, congratulations and my visa is going to arrive in one week, if not he gave me a number to call.
All together I spend bit more than 2 hours.
What is my conclusion and advice is, get your documents ready and nothing can go wrong in Frankfurt.
Good luck for Frankfurters.
