so interview yesterday was fine. I got into Syd at around 7am and I caught the train to the city and was at the consulate by 8am. I had a coffee and just read a book in the downstairs foyer of the building. I went up at 10:50am for my 11am interview.
It was fairly straight forward, I left my bag with security and went up to the consulate. I took a number. They called me up and I gave a lady my envelope, my medicals and my passport + photos. I then sat down again to wait. They called me back about 10 mins later. The lady basically said all documents were received and when did I plan on going to USA. I said probably late April early May. She then said why don’t I hold off on issuing your Visa until after your 2nd wedding anniversary, that way the Visa can be issued “unconditionally” and it will save me having to apply for this later. I said yep that sounds good.
So I went and sat down again to wait for my “interview”. I was called up to the second window about 10 mins after. Here a guy told me the interview would be in two parts, first administrative, then some questions about our relationship. So the first set of questions were:
have you ever been married before?
any children?
how many times have you been to the USA?
ever had any immigration problems?
any criminal record?
Second questions were:
Where and when did we meet?
When did you start dating?
did you visit her in the US/did she visit you in Australia?
have you lived together?
how much did your medicals cost?
and that was that. Once I answered the questions, he said the Visa would be issued, I told him that the other lady had suggested holding it till late April to make it unconditional and he said yep no worries.
In total I was up there for about 45 mins.
After that I had some lunch and went back to the airport. I kinda laid around and tried to get some sleep. I couldn’t get an early flight. I got home around 10pm. Long ass day but worth it!
