This was our experience for my wife's CR-1 Visa interview. This was a DCF filing.
Her appointment was at 0845 and we arrived around 0800. We had to wait in line outside for about 15 minutes before security let us inside. Once inside, we waited about 15 minutes before getting called to Window #13 (Lucky 13?) The lady there asked my wife for all the documents and sealed medical reports. She "interviewed" her and everything went well until my wife could not remember the zip code of where we will live in the USA when we move there. Luckily, I was there and she allowed me to come to the window and help answer the zip code mystery. It lasted about 10-15 minutes and then was instructed to pay the $404 USD at the window #15. After the man took our money, we were instructed to sit and wait. We waited about 2 1/2 hours in that big room with the uncomfortable bench seats. We did chat with another couple going for a K1 visa. They were very nice but we did not catch their names. They went into their interview before us and came out smiling and told us they were approved. We were happy for them!
Anyway, we finally got called into the mystery room for her interview. I was told I could go with her. The CO asked if we prefered English or Spanish. We choose English because my wife speaks way better English than I speak Spanish. The man was very friendly and even joked a bit with us. He reviewed our papers and asked only a few questions: How we met, when we started dating, what is my wife's profession, how many times she visited the US, where I work in Peru. He asked me about my the I-864 AOS and what proof I had that I am re-domilciling in the US. I came fully prepared with everything (drivers license, letter from employer, CC bills, bank statements, voter ID card, etc). He didn't want to see any of it, said "You answered what I wanted to know. You do not need to show anything and it was good enough for him". Now that surprised me, I thought they would want to see everything.
After that, he simply said " I appove your visa, congratulations". He then asked if we registered with DHL. I told him I tried on numerous occassions but the system showed the previous time (B2 visa) I registered and wouldn't let me do another. He said that happens often so he said we can come back next Tuesday to pick up her passport with the visa.
Overall, we were there for a little over 3 hours. The lady in window #13, the cashier in window #15, and the CO were all very friendly. It was a great experience and absolutely no problems for us.
