This is what happened when I went to the American Embassy in Ghana. I got there around 5:30 in the morning and 7 people were there already. We were asked to go under the tree so that when it was 7:00 they would call us. After sitting under the tree for some time, they called us to form a line. We went inside and sat down and waited. They called me to window 1 and they took away all the papers from me. Then they asked me to go and pay 630 Ghana cedi’s and I did and then they told me to send the receipt to window 2. I was called again to window 2 and they took my fingerprints. I went back to sit down and waited for a long time. I was watching people passing and not passing their interviews as I was waiting. I was finally called to window 6 and saw an old white man. He said to hold on for a few seconds and I said ok. He came back with all my papers and the first question he asked me is how did u get to know your fiancé? I said that Feddy came here to Ghana for a mission and he met me through the church. And he said when did he come? I said July 2008. And then he asked when our relationship started and I said March 2010. He then said in his computer it says that I tried to go to the states in June and I should tell him why. And I told him that I was going to surprise Feddy. He said it says there that I said to visit a friend. And I said yes, I made plans with Feddy’s best friend because my Feddy was very sick and I wanted to be there for him. And the man said to me then I will marry Feddy and will not come back. He was very angry at me. I said that wasn’t my plan because I have to come back to work because I wanted to do it during my leave of work. So I thought he will not give me the visa. So I was very sad. He packed some of my papers to me and asked me what does Feddy do? And I said he has two jobs. He works at Bowman’s and the Hole in One. He asked me where does Feddy live and I said Layton, Utah. And he smiled at me and said Layton close to Salt Lake City and I said yes. And he said what church do I go to and I said The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And he said LDS? And I said yes. He asks if I was a member and I said yes. And he took the blue sheet and wrote my name and put when I could come get the visa. He said to come a month from now to pick up the visa. I cried and I said thank you to him and he smiled to me and I left the window. I walked to where I was sitting before and put my papers he gave me in my bag. I told the woman sitting close to me who was praying all day that I made it. I got out and called Feddy to give him the big news that the visa has been approved!
