Our interview was one of the worst experiences of my life! 100x worse than the DMV. Our appointment was for 10:30, so we arrived at 10 a.m. and waited for nearly two and a half hours, in a room absolutely packed with people. Of the two available bathrooms, one was out of order and locked and the other had no toilet paper. The "receptionist" was incredibly rude. At around noon, my husband walked up to politely ask if she could tell him how many people were ahead of us or anything and she just snapped at him that we'd be called when they were ready for us, and to sit back down. We paid USCIS this ridiculous amount of money to be treated like cattle?
Finally we were called in and the lady was apparently suspicious of us because we were married at the courthouse. She kept asking us why we didn't get married at a church. Uhh, because we're not religious? Then she chided me for not having more joint assets. I brought my tax return for this year with both of our names, our joint bank account statement, and our apartment lease. We don't have anything else together because he doesn't have a social security number yet, so none of the utilities or bills can be in his name! She said she would approve us, but we'd better have more stuff to show at the two-year removal of conditions interview. Then she forgot to give us our approval form and called us an hour later, called my husband by the wrong name, and said she'd mail it to us. What a disaster.
She also said that it would take about two more months for them to process and mail him the card, so it's more of the waiting game I guess.
