We arrived at 8:30am for our 9:30am appointment. There was a guy just outside the security entrance with a list of names of people who had appointments. She gave him her name and we showed him our passports then he let us inside the security check area. The Ukranian security guys are not the friendliest bunch but I guess they are just doing their job. You cannot take bags inside but you can take cell phones, wallets, keys etc. Anything they dont want you to take to the interview they will put in a plastic bin and you get it on the way out. Once inside the interview area we were issued a number and sat down. If you arent nervous at this point then you arent human. When we saw our number we approached the corresponding window and gave the lady all the paper work as she asked for it. Then she asked for all the proof of relationship evidence and I started to give her photos, emails, letters and by the time I was about to give her the 150 pages of skype chat she said its enough. I don't need anymore. She said we had more than enough and she was going to put a ++ for much evidence of relationship on the paper she was filling out. I paid for the visa while Alya gave the rest of the papers. Then we sat down and waited for the interview. There were 4 people ahead of us and all were approved. There was one guy doing all the interviews this day. Approximately 90 mins later our number showed above the interview window. The interviewer was very friendly and greeted us as we did him. He asked us both to take the oath of truth to which we said i do when he was finished. He had a calm tone to his voice but most buisness like I would say. He asked if she spoke english to which she said yes but not perfect. The he said ok we will do the interview in english. She speaks it well enough so I wasnt worried. It was just a normal conversation at this point and he proceeded with the questions.
He asked me:
1. How many times I came to see her and the length of the visits?
2. Did I meet her mom and friends? I did and I explained all who I met.
Then he asked her:
1. What was my job?
2. How many employees do I have working for me? Many or few? This question surprised us both but I dont think he expected a perfect answer. Seems he was just looking for honesty and how she answered it.
3. Did she see my house? She did on skype and google earth.
4. What kind of car do I drive?
5. Do we have wedding plans yet? She answered we have started to plan it but not complete yet. He had no problem with this answer.
6. What does she plan to do in the USA?
7. Do I have any pets?
He then asked her if she will be bringing her son with her as he kept typing information into the computer. He then asked her to sign a few forms. I could see the pink approved slip sitting there and I just kept staring at it. lol. When he finished typing he said all the papers seem to be ok and I was waiting for him to say but.... Well he never did. His next words were congratulations we will be issuing the visa!!!! He gave her the pink slip and we went outside and paid fed ex to have it delivered.
A good experience in all I would say. Of course being nervous is normal and they know it. Just answer the questions honestly and all will be ok.
