Rating: | Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
After arriving at the consulate at 6.30 am, we were asked to get in a queue at 7.00 am. We were let inside at 7.30 and given token numbers. post that, there is a thorough security screening. Its a huge space and very organised so everything goes smoothly.
Pre-screening:
Once the token number is called out go to the prescribed window. An indian lady handed over my originals. Took my passport. She had a file with notes for my case in red. The note was the only question i was asked, i.e.- Did I not have a fire ceremony for the marriage. where is the certificate. I explained that the there is no such certificate. She confirmed that with a colleague, took my fingerprints and said I will be called out for my interview.
Then started a long wait. The token numbers were called out not in ascending order but language in which the interview would be taken. So even though my number was 18, i was called much later.
The interview lasted barely 3 min. After taking the oath, questions-
1. When did you meet your husband?
2. When did you decide to get married?
3. Have you been to the US?
4. Where have you been outside India?
And thats it. Your visa is APPROVED!
No evidence was seen. No pictures, nothing was asked.
There's plenty of place to sit. there's a small cafe of sorts where you can get tea/coffee.
So just be honest and if your case is genuine, nothing can stop you!
