Juarez, Mexico | Review on February 13, 2012: | bekam
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Reading these reviews really helped me know what to expect (semi) so i thought I'd post about our 3 days in Juarez
**if you are the US fiance, it is so much cheeper to fly in to El Paso, Tx and just cross the border. Believe me, it saved me about $600.
**we also had some friends in both El paso, and Juarez, so we stayed with them the 3 days,- so i will/cannot review hotels.
Feb 8- I flew in to El paso, met friends, crossed border, later picked up fiance who flew in to CDJ at night
-stayed the night, reviewed papers..
Feb9- woke up early, went to medical around 6 (they open at 6, consulate opens at 7-but really they opened at 730)
*(invitation letter / appointment confirmation/ passport)*
- it was SO frustrating because the first thing they said was that we didnt have the right paper, and that he had to go back to consulate. So he walked over to the consulate and stood in line till they opened for an hour and a half, then came back with THE SAME PAPER THAT I SHOWED THE MAN AT THE BEGINNING!!! I was furious, but tried to keep my cool, for the sake of fiance
-MEDICAL= was easy and didnt take long
*(blood work, eye exam, chest x ray, NO VACCINATIONS..)* ***we paid $210
- we ate, then went to starbucks and passed out for about an hour on the chairs.
-ASC- (also known as CAS in spanish.... )= easy. we waited outside till his time showed up for 2:20. He went in, came out soon after.
- went back to medical to pick up exam around 3:30- no problem.
- The whole day was about from 6am to 4pm.
FEB 10-
-got up early. Got to Consulate around 6:50. We had to go to the sala de espera (waiting area) where he quickly got some papers stamped. ***ALWAYS ASK RIGHT WHEN YOU GET UP TO THE DESKS, TO SEE IF YOU HAVE TO GO BACK AND GET ANYTHING STAMPED.. ECT***
- after that he left with all the papers, leaving- belt/cell phone/watch...etc...
- i waited in the sala for about 4 hours, staring at the door where he would be walking by.
- finally saw him walk by and I RAN out to see him.
- He jokingly told me they didnt approve us, then he smiled and said "NOS APROBARON!!" they approved us!! hugs/kisses/tears
- we had a celebratory lunch, then got picked up by friends....
FEB 11- we both took off to our homes,
The next time I see my fiance will be when he finally comes to the US for good!!!
I am so thankful for all who helped me in this process. Please, if you have any questions, just shoot me a message!!
