Finally after being on AP for almost a year my husband had his 2nd interview on 02/08 and was approved.
I went to the embassy with my husband for his interview. We arrived at 11:00 for a 1:00 appointment. They do not allow cabs to drive into the embassy any longer. You have to get dropped outside of the immediate embassy area and walk. We paid the 200 Naira for me to sit on the plastic chair under the shade trees while my husband had his interview. They called 1:00 appointments at 12:30.
My husband was one of the few people that was more business like in his dress. He had just gotten his hair cut and shaved and wore dress slacks and a button down blue shirt, and wore shoes instead of sandals. The way he was dressed made him look good and feel confident and it showed.
The interview was very short and the CO asked him:
1. What is your name?
2. Who filed for you?
3. When did you get married? [March 19, 2010]
4. Where did you get married? [Montego Bay, Jamaica]
5. Why did you get married in Jamaica? [My wife wanted her father who lives in Jamaica to give her away].
He then asked to see the wedding pictures and started smiling at one of the pictures. My husband said that made him feel more relaxed.
6. CO then asked "Do you love your wife?" [My husband said very much]
7. The CO then said "Do you want to live with your wife for the rest of your life?" [My husband said yes]
8. The CO asked my husband if he had any proof of relationship. My husband then took out the stack of folders with phone calls, text messages, email, chats, etc. It was 7 different folders with lots of information. The CO then said he could put away the files.
9. The CO asked my husband if he had any other proof. My husband said the final and most important one is this one and pulled out my passport and dangled it in front of the CO. The CO seemed to be impressed with that and smiled.
The CO then wrote down some things and said you can pick up your visa next Wednesday. The CO was smiling and my husband wasn't. My husband asked him [am I going to get a paper that tells me where to pick up the visa?] The CO realized his oversight and promptly produced the letter. My husband now started smiling.
He later told me after we left the embassy the CO forgot to collect his passport. We got a call 2 days later Friday morning from the embassy for my husband to bring in his passport on Monday morning so that the visa could be issued.
