I live in Sydney so I had no problems finding the MLC centre. I arrived an hour early and finished an hour early.
I went up to level 10 where the US consulate security check point is then was taken to level 56 (or something) to the US consulate where the interview takes place. Yes, their bullet-proof glass door weighs a tonne.
Total waiting time was 10-15 mins. I first had to have all my documents checked by a lady who made sure I had everything in order. She did not ask for my US-sized passport photos which cost me $20 for 2 prints at Royale Kodak (also in the MLC centre). She scanned the passport photo I submitted with my Pack 3. I had all the correct documents including the National police check with fingerprints!
Next I was greeted by a young American man who asked me the following questions:
* How did you guys meet?
* What is it about him that made you decide to marry?
* Have either of you been married before?
* Do you have any children together?
* Have you been to the states to visit him? Has he visited you?
* When are you planning to come over to the USA?
* Have you ever considered getting an Aust visa instead? (this threw me off)
* Where were you born? Have you lived anywhere else besides Australia?
* Where does he live?
* Do you have family in the states?
My approach was answer what I'm asked and not elaborate unless they probe further. My visa was approved on the spot. They still did not ask for my US-sized passport photo.
I received my visa in the mail 4 working days later.
