My husband had his visa interview today, Jan 22 here in Cairo. We arrived about 6:50-7AM and after realizing that there were 2 lines, he wentright inside. It'struethat they're not letting the American spouses in, which is really ridiculous and unfair but maybe in my case it was for the better, since i get nervous during interviews! He finished around 10:30AM so he was in there for only a short period of time.
Well, we GOTTHE VISA! the arabic lady who took his fingerprints was very nice and even joked and winked with him! (i think she must have had a crush on him lol, since from what i've heard she's a bitch to everyone) and complimented him on his correct papers.
The interviewer was an Indian-American lady. It only took about 10 minutes. She asked him questions such as:
was she married before?
how did you meet her? (this question provided to be his only sticky moment, as he said MSN messenger which was true but then she asked him "how did you meet on msn messenger?" so he told her (truthfully) that he saw his friend moaz talking to me on messenger videochat and was intrigued. she then had to ask "how did moaz meet her?" my husband couldn't remember so he s aid "i don't know"; the answer is through a silly facebook application lol. but really, they can be so specific when they want to be!)
who is denise? (my mom)
how long have you known her?
let me see some photos please.
how many times has she visited egypt?
how long did she stay in egypt each time?
She paused after this question and then wrote something before telling him ongratulations, you will take the visa after 3 weeks. My husband asked her again if itwould really be 3 weeks and she is like "yes."
He paid the DHL fee, and i noticed that the delivery said "domestic." do the visas have to leave to the usa and then come back to egypt, or do they just stay in egypt? i was curious as this might explain why we were told a shorter wait time while other people were told longer waiting times.
in any case, i thank god that he was accepted!! after so much waiting, we can finally be together. i am so excited to start our lfie together in the usa, and i hope that everyone else has sucess during their visa interviews.
