Nigeria | Review on December 16, 2011: | HARMONY2012
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Hey Everyone! I would first like to say that ALL GLORY BE TO GOD for our approval. Without the Lord above and prayers from people on VJ, friends, and family none of this would have been possible.
My fiancé arrived to the embassy around 6am for a 7am appointment. He went through all the regular proceedings (visa fee collection, I-134 collection, etc.) He said that when he got called to the window it was a mixed male who interviewed him. Well his exact words were he was not “pure white”…loll). They greeted one another and he was sworn in.
He said the CO asked him the following:
-Who is petitioning for you?
-Where does she live?
-What did she get her Bachelors degree in?
-Where did she go to school?
-What is she now in school for?
-Where did you guys meet? (We met at his cousins traditional wedding in Nigeria so the CO now asked for pics of us from that wedding but my fiancé said we don’t have because at that time things were not serious we had just exchanged numbers and had just started talking).
-What does she do for work?
-What’s the name of her company?
-How many siblings does she have?
-What does he (my brother) do for work?
-Where does he (my brother) live?
-How many times a day do you two talk? (He now asked for phone records and my fiancé was asked to recite my phone number).
-He asked when my parents came to America from Nigeria?
-He asked what state in Nigeria my family is from? (Abia state)
-He now asked my fiancé what state he is from? (Imo state)
-He asked my fiancé what he did for work?
-He asked where he went to school and what he studied?
-He asked for our pics and pointed out some certain pics and asked who was in the pics.
-He asked if we did any introduction or any engagement party? (My fiancé only said we had a get together with friends and family, but no formal introduction and the CO was ok with that).
He said that the CO was writing a lot in the computer and it seemed that he was asking him questions from various papers because he would ask a question and then look down at the paper and then type more, look at him for a little then type look at the paper and ask him another question etc, etc….
The CO did not ask for emails, letters from my parents, or text messages...just pics and phone records. My fiancé said he and the interviewer were even there laughing and gisting like they were just having a normal conversation. He said it was not even up to 7 mins long. He said the moment he knew he was approved was when the CO said “ok give these pictures back to your fiancé when you see her and tell her she did a great job with organization”. (Thank you Thank you….HAHAHAHAHAHAHA). The CO then gave him the white slip and circled the address where he should pick up his visa…..They both said thank you and Merry Christmas and my fiancé parted on his way…..halleluiah!!!!!!!
He said the key is to BE CONFIDENT and keep eye contact. AND DONT LET THEM TRIP YOU UP BECAUSE THEY MIGHT TRY TO!!!! The moment they see you sweating and being all nervous they might look at you suspiciously. He said a couple people were denied because they didn’t know certain things about their SO. For example there was a woman there who did not know where she would stay when she reached the states. She was denied full stop. There was another guy there that was sooooo nervous and once he got to the window (don’t think they are not watching you while you wait because they are) the CO asked the guy why he was so jumpy in the waiting area and the guy was so nervous and kept saying um, um, he ended up being denied.
I wish everyone that’s still waiting the best and I hope this review has helped…Keep God first because he is really the one directing this whole process for everyone. XOXOX
