Review Topic: K1 Visa

At the entry building you need to show your passport, your visa fee payment receipt and your invitation. You will get a number. Than you need to go to security checkings like at the airport. No electronics (like cell phones) or big bags alowed! They pulled some cosmetics out of my purse and stored it. I got a little card with a number to get it back when I leave. The security people were laughing alot about my purse stuffed with candy and were really nice and friendly.

Inside the main building you need to sit down and wait till your numbers show up on a screen and get called out.

At first I went to a counter and the lady took my passport and the visa fee receipt. She handed me an envelope to write my address on and to put a 4,25Euro stamp on it. Then I had to sit down again.

Next time my number showed up, I went to another counter. The clerk was really friendly, spoke German really well. He collected documets like my police certificate (original), international birth certificate (copy), affidavit of support (original), copies of all financial evidence (employment letter, bank statement, pay stubs,...). Then he went with me thru all the forms and ask me a few questions. As he asked me about my previous stays in the States, he mentioned that I was travelling with a B2 visa last time. I explained him that I needed this visa cause I got denied at the POE last year. I explained him the whole situation and he asked me alot about it. He told me that I might need a Waiver, the officer will decide this later on.... I was really worried... Than he explained me what I need to do in case that everything will be fine.
That took about 2o minutes.

Then I had to wait for another 2 hours till I got called out again. The officer tried to speak German, but asked me after a minute if I speak English. I told him thats no problem and he seemed to be very happy about it. He asked me a few questions:
Where do you wanna live in the US?
Where are you living now?
What are your parents names?
Have you already been in the US?
Where and when did you meet your fiance at the first time?
When do you wanna leave?
Have you already booked a flight?
And then the question "what about your fingerprints" I just started to explain my entry denial as he interrupted me after the second sentences and asked me where it happened. I told him in Philadephia. He: "Ah, ok" and kept looking in my documents/forms. Then he told me "You are approved. You will receive your visa within a week!" I was really surprised that I didnt need to show any evidence of our relationship (we had nothing except of our passport stamps in the petition either!) and that he didnt ask me more about the entry denial... I was like "Im approved?" He said "Yes your approved!" Thats it! I asked him if it is possible to pick up the visa instead of getting it by mail. He was surprised about this question. I told him that I work nearby the consulat and I dont trust the postal mail so much. He agreed and gave me a paper with my pickup date Oct 4th. It didnt last longer than 5 minutes!

Later on I noticed that he didnt made me to swear this paragraph and sign the form your supposed to sign in front of the officer. I hope that wont create any problems...but he is the one in charge!
