My husband and I (US Citizen) arrived at 7:30am for his 8am appointment and ended up getting #18. We had our interview at 12:30pm. Beside the long wait, everything was clear and ran smoothly. The interview itself was less than 5 minutes. We were asked how we met, where and when we got married, if my husband had lived in the US before, if he had visited the U.S. and how long he had been on his longest trip. My husband was asked what I did and I was asked why I moved to Guatemala. The consular official looked over our paperwork, canceled my husband's tourist visa, and told us to come back at 3:30pm to pick up the visa.
As other people have mentioned, there is absolutely no privacy during the interview.
We filed through direct consular filing and the whole process took 3.5 months.
