I reached the Consulate at 7 AM to find a long long queue. They started taking us inside the building at 7:15AM. We got our token numbers and were screened for contraband articles. No cell phones allowed inside the building and I had to throw some long forgotten medicines that were in my purse.
The we all were made to sit in this big hall where you sit facing the multiple windows where the interviews are conducted. Then when my token number was called out I went to this window and my passport was taken from me. Also the original documents that I had submitted to the NVC were returned to me. I was asked a few questions about my previous US visits like why I had been there and if I was married in the US.
Then began the 5 hour wait for my interview. Yes 5 hours. So please be there early so that your interview finishes early. I would say, be there by 6:15 or 6:30 so that you are first in line.
My main interview was with this American Visa Officer. It lasted for 3 minutes. Yes I timed it.
The Questions:
1) Where did you meet your husband?
2) Did you have a traditional wedding ceremony?
3) How was the ceremony conducted?
4) Why are you not wearing sindoor?
5) Please show me some wedding pictures.
6) Where does your husband work?
7) What is his work specialty?
8) What is your work specialty?

Madam your visa has been approved!!!!j(\\\'\\\')

Then I went to the VFS at 5 PM but my passport was not ready. Will go again today and will hopefully have it by evening.

There is no place for relatives to wait except for the 5 star Hotel Trident just beside the Consulate. My parents had the most expensive coffee of their life there yesterday. Rs 225 for 1 coffee!!!!
Also inside the Consulate there is no coffee machine or nothing that you can eat. I was starving since 5 AM. So have a hearty breakfast. Leave early from home so you reach early for the queue. I had left early but my driver got diarrhea (\'\') and so we got delayed and so my interview got delayed.
Alls well that ends well!
