Pertinent Facts Each Applicant should know:

Get to the Embassy at least 30mins before your interview time.

1. Glue or staple your passport photos to your DS156 forms and sign before you go to the embassy. This will serve you time when you finally go for submissions. You are only required to come with an extra passport which is RETURNED back to you after being scanned into the system.

2. Wear something comfortable but warm. It gets VERY cold inside the embassy and so many peeps were shivering .

3. Keep to the Left hand side of the Main entrance gate. The right hand side is for NIV applicants. Open ALL sealed ENVELOPES once you leave your car. You will NOT be allowed inside without opening all sealed envelopes. Keep You appointment letter and your International Passport handy. They will use this to check against the appointment register and sign you in. You will be issued two slips (A yellow n white paper). You will have to fill out the white slip with your information and petitioners name once you are ushered to a seat.

4. If your documents are substantial you are allowed to come with a bag to ease the load. NO Cellphone, powders, perfume, key holders, liquid of any kind and other offensive items are allowed.
5. After you have been cleared at the gate and given a seat, you will then be called in groups of five to the first screening point.
6. You will be moved into the embassy grounds for the final screening and your interview number will be printed out and handed over to you. You must take NOTE and keep this number safe!!!! You will then be taken into the document submission/interview room where you will submit the yellow slip and make your payment of $350 .
You will then be asked to take a seat and wait for your number to be called for document submissions. Once the system calls your number it will flash on the screen & the corresponding window you are expected to go to.

You will submit your International Passport, the white slip, DS156 ,156k, Police report medical report & photocopy of your birth certificate . The petitioners Financial support documents will also be requested along with one passport photo which will be scanned and returned to you.

Once the document submission stage is completed... the CO's take over the booths and start calling out names or numbers (the number that was printed out and given to you) and you move to the designated window to be sworn in and shown the DS 156k form to confirm before signing. Once this is done the interview stage commences. The CO's speak into the Mic and you respond accordingly. Everybody around will hear both question and answer sessions...there is no hiding place lol.
