my interview was at 1:15, I arrived at 12:45 and was told to come back at 1 so I grabbed a quick lunch in the chipshop across the road. The embassy is just a quick walk from landsdown dart station so it is very easy to get to.
Upon entering the embassy I went through the airport like security, the guard took all my electronic items, put them in a locker and gave me the key to put around my neck. I then went into a waiting area where I was given a number and told to wait. I got talking to a nice lady in the waiting area who said she was told to bring an a4 envelope.I informed her this was wrong so she had to run to the post office around the corner to get the correct size envelope you will also need 12 euro worth of stamps.
I was then called up to have my documents checked. the nvc said that my wife being my sponsor was ok even though she had no tax returns but when I went to the window the guy informed me that I would need a co sponsor. this might be something people should really look into because there were 3 people on the day who needed to send in a new co sponsor. Just because the nvc accepts your documents doesnt mean they can be used.they just check that everything has been submitted. I was lucky that my wifes mother was willing to be a co sponser.
Next I had my interview with the consulate officer. this was kinda strange, for some reason I was expecting it to be in a seperate room but it was just at another window. I was half way through the interview before I realised it was the interview.it was a very relaxed interview, the lady was really nice.she didn't ask for any additional items like pictures or anything like that. the questions were straight forward questions: how did you meet, when was your wedding, was it a big wedding, do you get on well with her parents, does she get on well with yours. at the end of the interview she kept my passport and said as soon as they recieve a new i864 they will send out the visa. I recieved the visa 4 working days after they recieved the i864
