Haiti | Review on November 6, 2011: | Chynna/gapamix
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
We arrived at about 6:45am. We went through 2 security check points and had a seat in the waiting area. The Embassy was clean, nice and air conditioned.
1. My fiance was called to the first window. Nice girl...she asked for any additional documentation that needed to be submitted (DS-157 and another original divorce decree for me.) They were both submitted.
The clerk assembled the papers and typed some stuff in the computer. She then verified my email address and his cell phone number and adresss. She strangely said " make sure your phone is always on and charged. We giggled and explained we talk everyday so there is no way that phone would ever be off. She smiled and said ok just be sure....(We should have known at that very moment it was a subliminal message that admin review was already documented in the sytem.)
2. My fince was called again to go get his fingerprints taken and then we waited to be called for the interview. The first couple called went up to the window but they told the U.S. Citizen to take a seat, they were not approved. Ten other couples were also not approved or on Admin review as well. I told my fiance each case is different and do not let the results of others way on him or make him nervous. I held his hand and whispered I am here with you all the way....
3. He gets called to the window...I can hear everything where I am seated. He swore in and the first question was open ended * Tell me about your Fiance? How did you meet? and last When did your fiance get divorced? He answered all the questions and there was silence for like 10 min....then the CO stated in french " your visa could not be approved today because additional review of the paperwork needs to be completed..My fiance signaled me to come to the window.
I get to the window and greeted the CO (he never even looked at me) I began by asking is there any additional paperwork they need? The CO responded no, then I asked what's happening he said the review of the documents were not fully completed. I said so now what happens? He handes my fince a paper with the number to call if you have questions.
I asked if there was anything else I could do because I am here... CO said no and repeated if you have additional questions call the number on the paper. Still he never looked at me....That made me feel like crap. I tried to get his attention but he was glued to the computer screen typing away. So much for being present at the interview....
Please note the results of the interview was not good but the overall experience despite the rude CO was ok. I rated it a 3 for Haiti....
Good luck to all of you who are next and planning to be present.
