Review of doctor appointment in Oslo and interview at the Embassy in Stocholm.
I got my interview date set by the NVC, and they had sent me an email about what I needed to bring and what to do next. The NVC sent all the papers to the Embassy, and I scheduled an appointment with the Visum Legene. I went to my Fastlege to get a blood test that would be forwarded to Ullevål Sykehus in Oslo. This needed to be done a few weeks before the final doctor appointment at Ullevål Stadion. Then I went to Unilabs (any Unilab in Norway, doesn’t have to be in Oslo) to do X-ray, where I got the result on CD that same day. When I got to the Visum Legene in Oslo, I remembered to bring all the necessary documents, my passport and some passport photos. I also brought my X-ray CD and vaccine papers to show what vaccines I already had.
I was taken very good care of, they were very friendly, and the nurse that helped me was Marianne. She also helped me through email, the weeks before the appointment. I got there early at 12, and the appointment was at 16, but they let me get in at 13. Which was very nice. First I had to fill in a lot of documents, and then get some vaccines, and for last talk to the Doctor that did some tests on me. Asked about medical history and so on. He was also friendly. Then they told me they would forward the result to the Embassy, and send me my vaccine papers that I will need to bring with me to America. I will need to show it at the POE (Port of Entry). Also the X-ray CD is good to bring in your hand luggage.
So when I got to The Embassy in Stockholm, I got in the line closest to the fence and not the one on the sidewalk. Your sign will say Immigrant (and not non-immigrant). I waited for the lady to call me into the Guard House. There I took off belt, shoes, watch that got sent through the x-ray machine together with my purse and jacket. I had to turn off my cell phone and leave it there at the guard house till I got back out. They were very friendly, and it went smooth. I followed the pavement, and went to the left into a room where I met an officer. I went to section G which is all the way down to the right corner. There I was met by a very nice old lady that told me to have a seat and wait to be called out. When I heard my name, they gave me the envelope that the visa were going be sent out in. It was a girl before me so it took me 1 hour from I had the appointment set till I got done. Then I waited till they called me up the second time. I walked over to section D, where the person that would interview me was. She was friendly, and she talked fluently both English and Swedish. I talked English with her. She asked me -how long we have known each other, -how we got to know each other, -how many times we saw each other before we got married, -my husbands work. etc. I believe these questions are the most common ones, but it most likely depends on your case and history, what other questions might be asked. The girl before me was asked A LOT of questions, because she had actually lived in the U.S before. I hadn't. I explained everything to her. I was calm, and polite, and it went VERY smooth. She was not rude, but very relaxed and easy to talk with. She said they had all the documents they needed so she would approve me I was soooo happy! She told me that I would get the passport in 7-10 business days.
Finally it was over, and I went back out to the Guard House to collect my cell phone. Overall, the experience with the blood sample, x-ray, Visum Legene, and the Embassy were very good. They all were very professional, and nice to me. So there is nothing to be worried about! Just trust the system and relax. Think about the day when you meet again, and you can live your life together A wonderful feeling! It just takes a little time, but it's all worth it.
