The interview went great. We submitted all originals in advance, so there was no trouble at all with the document check stage. The wait time was average - got in at about 7-45, got to the interview window at about 10-30. Regular wait time for any type of visa at this embassy if you show up at 7-20.
There are four stages in the process:
1. The Russian ladies ask you to line up and say your name to them so that they can pull out your file.
2. The Russian officers call each applicant one by one and check your docs. Don\'t freak out if you forget smth at home - you will still be interviewed, but will have to send it in later to get your visa stamped.
3. You go to another window for finger printing.
4. The actual interview with American consular officers.
The interview was like everybody else\'s - just about 5 minutes. I got asked where we met and how big our wedding was. The consular officer was very friendly and also looked through some pictures I brought.
Last thing she did - she checked my actual date of departure from the US on my J-1 visa in some database to make sure I actually fulfilled by two-year home residence requirement. And that was it. javascript:emoticon(\' \')
With a full knowledge of how long lines and wait times can be at the Embassy, this was nothing out of the ordinary. Actually, more pleasant that in the non-immigrant section, so 5 stars.
UPD: The passport was ready in two days. I got a text message saying it's ready for pick-up. Technology!
