I had my interview on October 19th --- APPROVED!!! :D Thankfully!
My appointment time was for 8:30 am, and I arrived at the consulate at 7:30am. There were about 20 people in front of me and the doors opened just as I got there. (I would advise getting there earlier, I did end up spending quite a few hours in there just waiting for my turn to come up)
You go through security first. Be sure to have your appointment/confirmation letter and passport, you can't enter without it. All people with large bags/backpacks were turned away until they got rid of it. After security, you are sent downstairs to wait in front of the elevator. There was no real order to this. As soon as the elevator doors opened it was a free-for-all, and who ever got on first went up, no sense of line or waiting your turn, so get as close to the elevator as possible.
I was up on the 19th floor by 8am, directed to the cashier window at 14A/B where you show your appointment letter and your given a number (I got C14) and asked to sit and wait to be called up. They didn't start calling anyone until about 8:40, not sure why, so were sitting around for quite a while with no movement.
First 2 windows went by quickly. First window is to provide fingerprints, passport, MRV fee confirmation. Second window called up to is to provide Birth Certificate (original and copy), letter of intent from fiance, and police record. This process was done by about 9:30am. Then I waited until about 11:20am until I was called up for my interview. (The first person in line was done and out by 9:30am, which is why I suggest getting there as early as possible!)
Interview was very straightforward and simple, and took no longer than 7 minutes. I was given back my original birth certificate and had to raise my hand to swear to an oath. I was asked when my fiance and I met, and how, when we plan on getting married, and I was asked about the nature of his business. (I was also asked about a previous student visa I had for the US -- in case anyone else has the same past experience) I was not asked for any evidence of our engagement even though I came fully prepared. The lady typed in some notes into the computer and told me "Congratulations, your visa is approved, you can start planning your wedding!" And that was it...I was out of the consulate at 11:30 am.
I was told to expect my VISA within a week, so I'm waiting anxiously for it! I'm all packed up and ready to go! Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews! Just come prepared with all the required paperwork and it is a walk in the park (minus the intense nerves until you hear "approved")
