Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
I was let in at 12.55 and went through the airport-style security, they wanted to see my passport. I was then directed towards the Embassy itself. I was given a number upon entering and waited for my number to be called. The first person I spoke to collected the following from me:
* DS-156(x2) + photos stapled in placed
* DS-156K
* DS-230 (part 1) for some reason but I also had part II stapled with it. She might have meant part II. I brought a duplicate of part I just in case.
* Medical report
* Big self-addressed envelope with €8 postage
* Police certificate of character
* My passport
* Affidavit of support + some of my evidence (they only wanted the original copy)
* Birth cert long form (or a certified copy)
They did not ask me for, but might ask you for: evidence of the relationship; an extra passport photo (on top of the 2 affixed to the 2 DS-156). I was then sent to the nearby cashier to pay the €263 fee. I paid with a postal order (made out to the US Embassy, Dublin) but others were using Visa. I was then told to sit and wait to be called.
90 minutes later the CO called me to a window. I had to swear (with right hand raised) to tell the truth. Finger prints were taken. He then chatted a bit and asked a few questions.
Q When did you meet your fiancée?
Q Where is she now? What does she do?
Q When did you last see her?
Q Did you get her a ring? How much?
The CO then got me to sign in front of him DS-230 (part II). He told me that my visa was approved!
PREPARE! Bring everything asked for and even bring duplicates of each form.
