Our interview was scheduled for 7:30am. We arrived at 6:45am. The line was sooo long, I was immediately stressed!! We joined the line to wait our turn. A lady came by telling us all to have out our interview letter, passport photos, visa application, and pink receipt(for the other visas). She noticed we did not have a pink receipt and pulled us out and took us to the VERY front....Amen, the stress went away!!
They checked for my husbands name on the appointment list and we went inside. There was airport type security to gain full access to the other side. It lead out to an courtyard with many chairs. People where waiting, so we took a seat and joined them. They called us in by rows until all rows were called. This lead into a small lobby area where applicants waited in line to show their interview letters and were given a number. Once through the door, there were two waiting areas. To the left was for non immigrant visas and the right was immigrant visas. This is where I was turned away and told if I was need for the interview, my husband would return for me. Stress came back!!! Lol!
It was 7:40am by this time and I sat patiently until 9:30. I couldnt take it anymore, so I asked to used the bathroom, to see if I could get a peek at what was going on inside. Low and behold..he was at the window showing pictures! I got teary eyed and an officer came and said, "use the bathroom or leave!" (Did he not know I'm the petitioning USC???!). I hurried in the ladies room and came out, he was still at window. I left out and at 10:10, I could see my husband walking toward the exit with a passport in hand. This made me sad, as I thought it was his, and that he had been denied. However, it was mine. He paid the DHL fee and joined me in the courtyard. We embraced and he said, "mi get true mon!". Lol, Thank you Jesus!!
Note: There were many people outside trying to give direction. The embassy workers do NOT wear uniforms, so it is hard to tell who you should take direction from. The outside embassy employees all have on lanyards with a badge and many, if not all, are Jamaican. Customer service is NOT their strong point so don't expect much!
These are the questions my husband could remember:
Where is ur wife?
Where does she work?
Dose she have children?
Where did u meet?
When did you meet?
What is her family like?
Does she have siblings?
What do they do for a living?
Are her parents married?
Who considered marriage first?
How many times has she been here to visit you?
How many times have she come since u got married?
Do you have pictures?
Who approached whom first?
They asked him for only phone records, my travel history proof, and pictures of us together. I prepared and accordion style folder with alphabetized tabs, full of documents. Bank records, original documents, taxes, NVC copies, USCIS copies, correspondence, medical, jail record, and more! You can never be over prepared, as no one knows what you will be asked for. So take it all!
