I (the US Citizen) came with my Fiance and her son to the embassy for the interview. We got there about 7:10 AM (traffic is ridiculous around there so leave your hotel early), saw a long line but we showed our appointment letter to the women in pink helping people and they were able to go right in. I was told I couldn't enter the building and had to stay outside on the sidewalk. Not fun for me but 4 hours later they walked out and were approved and had a note to come pick up their visas (K1 & K2) in 2 days.
My fiance said the lady was American but spoke Thai pretty good. She looked at our pictures, my I-134 Affidavit of Support, some of the phone call records & Skype logs and mostly asked about where/how we met and her previous jobs. She also asked her son in Thai where his actual father is, does he have any other brothers and sisters, does he like me, and does he want to move the America. Her son (8 years old) didn't exactly answer all these questions correctly as he was a little confused but she still approved the visa.
Overall a fine experience. If you are going for a K2 (child) visa also then be prepared as they may be asked a few questions too.
