Frankfurt, Germany | Review on August 23, 2011: | Josh and Kristina
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Josh flew to Frankfurt from the states for the appointment, so we met at Europa Hotel (nice hotel, 45 Euros a night) which is right near the Haupbahnhof, 20min by metro from the consulate. Our appointment was at 9:30 and we arrived at the consulate at 9:00. We decided to wait outside for 15 minutes since the consulate webpage says not to show up earlier than 15 minutes prior to your appointment. We went to the security window at 9:15, showed him our visa receipt and were told that our number had already been called and to tell that to the recepionist inside.
We made it through security, told the recepionist inside the consulate that our number had already been called and were told to take a seat. We waited about 20 minutes when our number was called and we walked up to window 23. We handed in my passport and picture and showed the receipt for our visa appointment. We then took a seat and were called up to a different window about 15 minutes later. There the guy collected my birth certificate, police certificate and our evidence of support (I-134). He also explained how the visa would be sent through the mail, which documents it would contain, what to do when it is recieved and what to turn in when you travel to the states.
20 minutes later we were called up to our last interview with the consular. She asked a few questions before having us swear that what we were telling was the truth. She then asked Josh what he does for a living and then started asking me when Josh and I met, have I met his family, where he was born, when I was going to the states and what type of wedding we would have. She went through our original petition paperwork and said I should have the visa in one to two weeks.
Everyone was really nice and friendly and the whole process took about an hour. We are so excited that this is finally over!!
