My wife was approved for her GC in Dallas on Friday, 8/19/11. The ISO said that they couldn't stamp her passport same-day, and she'd need to make an INFOPASS appointment. I tried to get an appointment with Dallas, but it would take at least 10 days. Since my wife was planning to travel to San Francisco the following week, I made an INFOPASS appointment with the San Francisco office to get her I-551 Visa stamp in her passport. (She was continuing on to visit her family in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, 8/23/11...her first time home in 6.5 years.)

Her appointment was for 8:45am. She arrived early, and was available when she was called. There was some question about the differences in addresses between her driver's license (we lived in California until the end of June) and the address on the receipt (Texas).

And then the agent was "rude". She told my wife that her application had not been approved. My wife showed her the receipt from CIS showing that the application had been approved on the 19th, and the response was "you people" need to wait until you get your GC before you travel. The phrase "you people" occurred several times during the interview.

She got her stamp, but she wasn't very happy about it. She called and dumped on me as soon as she left. I let her cool down, then called her back and asked her if she wanted me to file a written complaint. She said since we still have to deal with them for removal of condition (CR-1 to IR-1) and then naturalization, she didn't want to give them anything in writing that was a complaint.

I did promise her she wouldn't have to go back to the San Francisco office.
