We arrived at 5am there were about 50 people ahead of us. Luis wanted to arrive early, after reading all the reviews, I know that arrival time would not matter because they do not call people in a orderly manner. for our first interview we were called at 1130am, this is after we were called to submit documents, and finger printing. to submit documents, we were called to window 20, the only question we were asked there was if he was ever married. for the actually interview, we were called to window 18. at window 18 the only 2 questions we were asked were, if he had ever been to the usa or puerto rico, and if he had family in usa, answer to both questions were no. this is were our drama comes in. on the original applications i had put i met his family in usa when i should have put family friend, all because i was under the impression they were family because they address eachother as [primo]. she repeated again if he had family and again we said no. not sure how he should have addressed that looking back, but i am glad we stayed with truth...i will go back to this primo business in a few
after this, they had us take a seat and we waited and waited and waited, i knew we were going to be called to room 11, but did not want to alarm luis, but he was prepared for investigations. i think we were called at around 2pm we walked in and the officer ordered me to sit outside luis went in. he was asked
Do you have family in usa
repeated the same question 5 times
asked how we met
how often we have sex
if i brought him gifts this time
how often i travel to dr
what i do for work
who is the supposed close family friend he has in usa, and asked again if that was his family or friend
if he knew my family
where my faily was now
my mothers maiden name, yes, you read right my mothers maiden name, which i do not use, but he knew it.
they were in the room about 15 minutes
they called me in
asked me if he had family in usa, i explained why i said he was family originially and why i thought that, it was a culturally misunderstanding
where my family is from
how we meet
how often i travel
when we have sex
how often
were lights on or off
before i left the room, i asked if i could speak, i took this time to plead my case, and told the officer how i felt and what luis meant to me, not sure if this helped but i did it anyway
we waited about 1.5 hours before we were called again. at this time, we saw that everyone that had been called to window 11 was denied. they called us to window 18 again and interviewed us again seperately, they started with me this time.
this time the officer was screaming at me, as to why i lied in my original petition,
she went on to aske what i did for a living,
why i do not want to get married in dr,
what church i attend
how luis feels about getting married in a non catholic church
she called luis to the window and asked me to leave
he was with her for about 10 minutes, she asked him the same questions, but was nice to him.
they called me back, was silent for about 5 minutes and was typing something in her computer. luis noticed that the green stub and package they u present at poe was there, i did not, at this point i had anxiety i just wanted to get out of there. we were the last ones there. she asked for my financials and affidav of support, yes they did, 5 more minutes passed and she said approved, i cried out of happiness, frustration, anger, hunger, lol, everything, he was frozen and all he could say to the officer was that she had beautiful eyes, i wanted to punch him so bad.........
so from 5 am we were there to 5pm.
i expected more from the consulado just because it is an american office. the benches are not to bad but after 12 hours my bootie hurt....
i do want to add, that i am divorced and had met my ex husband in teh us, he was here under a work visa and before it expired i had petitioned for him. that was one of our red flags as well. i was also divorced october 6th and petitioned for luis nov 4, another red flag. while it was a horrible experience, the end was great, they were only doing there job, especially in a country with such high fraud
thanks to lari, newbie, gannette, carol, and everyone else who thought and prayed for us throughout the day, i had messages on my phone from lari and newbie like wth is going on.....lol.....luis and i truly appreciate your concern and are happy we made lots of new friends through out the begining on this journey!!!!!!
