New York City NY | Review on August 5, 2011: | medhead

We had our interview in the New York City office 8/4/11 at 1:45pm. We had to wait about 45 minutes - called at 2:30. After a ~15 minute interview, they told us we'd get an answer within 30 days, which was disconcerting since we were expecting to hear right away! Overall we had a favorable impression from the agent and he didn't ask to see ANY additional documentation. I came prepared with a hyper-organized binder full of evidence of our marriage, all our originals, photo albums, notarized letters from various people, etc. and the only thing the agent wanted to see were our passports. So, I guess that was encouraging that he wasn't suspicious. But, he also asked some tough questions that my husband didn't know - what model car I own (yes, most guys would know this, but my husband is a PhD student in philosophy and it's not his thing!), what kind of car insurance we have (he's on the policy, but he didn't know it was Geico) and what my obstetrician's name is. I'm guessing the agent was more concerned with our reactions to these things and our interactions with each other than with the precision of our responses, but it still made us nervous, especially when we didn't get an answer at the end.
Has anyone else had to wait 30 days for an answer?
