Dominican Republic | Review on August 5, 2011: | Carol & Lenin
Rating: | Review Topic: General Review
We arrived at 5 am the line was short only about 9 couples in front of us. Of course the buscones tried to convince us something about wrapping pictures? but then I reminded Leni that they were not employees of the consulate. By 6 the line got pretty long and most people were there. Around 645 they started making the 2 lines one for women one for men they asked for our appointment letter and stapled our number to it (#166) we went thru security and found a seat on the benches. It brighter and more open in there than I expected which made it more comfortable. About 705 we were called to window 23 to give our documents that’s when despite my asking several time we found out he had the extracto form BC instead of the extensa. So the lady explained that we would still interview but he would need to return with the correct BC. I asked if she wanted the affidavit of support she did not. Then about a half hour later we were called by name and number to window 13 we had forgotten to give her the photos, so we did then and sat back down. We were then called back to window 13 about an hour or so later to do fingerprints. No one up to this point asked me or Leni any questions. Half hour to 45 min later we got called to window 17 there was a long dark haired lady behind the window it was hard to see her tho because the window had a glare from facing the sun, but she sounded like she was either Mexican or Ecuadorian. She asked the usual do I speak Spanish does he speak English then told us that she would address me in English and lenis in Spanish. She asked leni how old he was then asked me the same. Then asked me if ive ever been married, and asked leni the same. She then asked me to sit down and said she would call me with the same number when I needed to come back to window. I sat and waited it was a good 15 min before the number came back up for me to go back to the window. It took so long because the lady got irritated with Leni and told him he needed to be more clear about his answers, then asked him if he even liked me, or if he was just playing and doing it for papers. She asked me a few questions had me call Leni back up to the window, and then told him in Spanish that we were approved but she could not issue the visa until he returned with the extensa form BC. Then told me in English that she didn’t see any problems and repeated about the BC. Then told us to pay domex and told us to bring the needed documents to window 27 anytime. We went and got the BC and returned the next day in the afternoon with the correct BC to be told that you had to come at 7 am to these windows. So we went back the next day at 7 am and they told leni he should have his visa at his house within 14 days.
The questions asked were as follows but not in order.
To Leni:
Have you ever been to the US?
How many kids do you have?
Where and with who do they live?
Have you ever met her family?
When and where did you 1st meet her mother?
Where do her parents live?
What are her parent’s names?
When did you purpose?
When and where did you 2 meet?
Where does she live and with who?
How many times she has been to DR?
How many times since you 2 met?
What does she do for a living?
Who does she work for?
What is her work schedule?
Does she have any tattoos or surgery scars?
When did we start this process?
Did you get her an engagement ring? Why not?
Do you love her?
Carol questions:
Where does his daughter live and with who?
Did he get me an engagement ring?
What are my parent’s names, where do they live, are they separated?
What do I do for work, who do I work for, what’s my work schedule?
How many children do I have, how many does he have?
Do I have any tattoos or scars?
We stayed at the Jardin del teatro in room 213. It was comfy enough that we ended up staying there for the remaining 4 days of our trip. The owner Hilda is a doll and Dona Luisa was sooo helpful we <3 her. It’s located really close to the consulate and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area if not we called a cab (a guy named domingo) who took us to the colonial zone for 180 pesos.
