I am the Petitioner (Natividad- US Citizen) 34 years old and my husband 33 years old is the Beneficiary (Eduardo):
Our case a little complicated, because I was marry 2x before. This was my third time requesting a DR Husband ☺ ))))))))). To make a Super Lonnnnnnnngggggggg story short. I marry my first husband 1995 divorce him in 2003- no Kids- yay!, then I marry my second husband in 2005 divorce him 2007- 1 beautiful daughter. BUT in 2008 I met the man of my dreams- YES my current husband EDUARDO.
Our appointment was for 6:45, but we arrived there at 5.30, which was a problem because Tropical Storm Emily. At 5:35am we were on line at the consulate. Around 6am the employees dressed in yellow shirts that read INFO started handing out the ticket with the numbers, ours was 718. They stapled interview letter with the ticket and before we were let through security they take the interview letters and gave us the extra ticket number to take with us.
For security check we were separated men to the left women to the right. Security was comparable to the procedure at an airport. Friendly officers yay! Once inside and the place was starting to fill up we were instructed that those for immigrant visas sit to the right closest to the cafeteria and those for non immigrant visas such as “visas de paseo” sit to the left towards the entrance and exit doors.
Step1: Before 6:45am we were called to window 21 the man (Puerto Rican) was SUPER NICE and friendly. He was joking and laughing- he said that my husband and I look very much alike.
He asked my husband:
How old are you?
Are you 33 soon to be 34 and no kids? Dominican? No way! Lol
What you guys brought me? Ok Pass me the police certificate, medical and TROPICAL STROM EMILY! lol
He just said to me “Hola Naty” (I loved it, it was like a sign from GOD, just like I requested, because I knew that I had a very difficult journey since I was marry 3x).
We submitted passport, cedula, banco popular receipts, police certificate, and medical results in sealed envelope it was given in. Then he told us to go and have a sit.
Step2: around 8am, lucky number 718 was called to go to window 13 for fingerer prints, a very quick and pleasant step. I also notice a GREEN SLIP on our files. Could be that be the APPROVE slip that my friends from Visa Journey talk about- I thought. I was very excited to share this info with my husband.
When we return I told my husband what I saw on our file… He gave me a huge smile. Then we notice the couple going to DOMEX with the same slip that I saw on the file. GOD is good!
Step3: around 9:15am,
An American Lady with a Russian ascent: Only told my husband to rise his right hand swore him in. Didn’t understand

She asked when we met (Dec. 2008).
How did you guys met? But How? Asked 3x, explain!
Do you have family in the USA?
Do you have children together?
Where do you plan to work in the USA?
When was her last divorce?
Where does she works? Teacher
What are the ages of her students?

She asked to look at my passport.
She asked to see Wedding photos.
How often do you come?
Where do you stay when you are here?
She asked about my last divorce, why I waited so long to for it. Since he already had left and has a child with a new woman.
Asked about the age of my last husband baby? Couldn’t answer! lol
She then step out and said, wait right here - I be back… I thought that we are going to the investigation department. ☹
But then she came back, wrote something in her computer and said
“FELICIDADES SU VISA FUE APROVADA! PASEN POR DOMEX…”
She gave us a green slip with my husband visa number and IV writing in the middle and told us to pay DomEx. We paid and they said it might be ready in 3 days. We said we wanted to pick it up in Santiago (because we are from Puerto Plata), hoping that would make things faster.
I will follow up with DOMEX Monday August 08, and keep you guys input…
