My husband had his interview today. I have never heard of (x3) COs hammering questions at the beneficiary together. They asked questions about my two previous divorces, they asked questions about why he had not had an arranged marriage and why we got married in Hong Kong rather than India. They asked questions about our church. There was one American lady and two Indian ladies interviewing. They would ask questions and then tell Tapash to go wait. Then five minutes later they would bring him back to the counter and fire off more questions. We received a 221-G. Here is what we wrote in response that we will submit to the VFS in Kolkata on Monday.

As per your request, we are submitting or in some cases resubmitting the documentation you have requested. The contents and their explanation are as follows:
1) REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION: Both hotel receipts for Dianna and Tapash from the hotels in Hong Kong.
SUBMITTED DOCUMENTATION: I, Tapash Chatterjee, could not properly understand the question of where my wife and I stayed in Hong Kong. We stayed in the same hotel and so there are not two separate receipts for the same hotel. There were two separate beds in the Walden Hotel in our room and there are two separate receipts for two separate hotels because we changed hotels in the middle of our trip to Hong Kong. We stayed at the Walden Hotel November 22, 2010 through November 24, 2010. In lieu of the actual receipt for the Walden Hotel, we are submitting our bank statement which shows where we paid for the Walden Hotel. We changed hotels from the Walden Hotel to The City Garden Hotel on November 24, 2010 and stayed there until November 28th, 2010. We are resubmitting the actual receipt for that hotel.
2) REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION: Contact details for Attorney (Marriage Celebrant) that performed our wedding.
SUBMITTED DOCUMENTATION: We are resubmitting the Receipt for Attorney that contains name, address, and phone number.
3) REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION: Original marriage certificate from Hong Kong.
SUBMITTED DOCUMENTATION: We are resubmitting our original marriage certificate. Perhaps the Consulate Officer got confused since we submitted BOTH our original certificate and a certified copy for the interview.
4) REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION: Letter from the mission president presiding over the Kolkata Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (www.lds.org).
SUBMITTED DOCUMENTATION: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a PRIVATE religious organization Head Quartered at Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has over 13 million members in over 85 countries throughout the world. Each of the leaders in each Branch and Ward around the world is a VOLUNTEER. They ARE NOT PAID for their service. I am not paid for my work serving as the Branch President of the Kolkata, India branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is the OFFICIAL policy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to NOT become involved in politics or governments of ANY country. In order to respect the SAFETY and PRIVACY of their NON-PAID clergy, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does NOT release ANY documentation about its members and will NOT provide me with a letter. One of the front page articles of news released by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which can be found at http://newsroom.lds.org/, is titled “Political Neutrality”. It better explains the policies of the church. In lieu of a letter, I am submitting a print out from the official church website that shows my name and my home phone number as the contact for visitors to the Kolkata, India Branch. In addition, I am submitting a copy of my wife’s charitable donation summary that proves she and I are members of the same church. We pray that this will meet your requirements.
