Bogota, Colombia | Review on July 28, 2011: | Brent n Yasira
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Yasira and I arrived at the Embassy at around 6.45 for her 7.00 interview, which I thought was a bit late and there was a lonnng line but once they determined we were there for the K1, we went to line 3 and were 2nd in line. After entering, we went to a desk where the young lady gae instructions on assembling the documents....went to sit down and put all in order and returned them to that desk. The 45 minute or so wait gave us time to grab something to eat at the small coffee shop. Yasira´s name was called and we went to the window where the lady there basically just made sure all the papers were in order, only asking Yasira where we met. We sat back down for maybe 10 minutes, and of course the next time her name was called, Yasira had gone to the bathroom and I didn´t fully hear the window number but thought it was ¨dos¨ and i guessed correctly. There they did her fingerprints which I took as a good sign but didn´t get overly confident. Within maybe 30 minutes, they called her name again and we both went up. Yasira picked up the line to talk to the young male ....and she said he gave a smile which was different than anything else we had seen. I could only hear her answers in Spanish but she answered how we met....how many times I had been to Colombia....when the last time was.....means by which we communicated...and how many times I had been married. He had the original photos and other documentation of our relationship from the original petition and I saw him look through them briefly. I had in hand a few more photos and about 30 pages of cell phone records since the time of the original petition but he didn´t ask for them. He told her it was approved and we could go to the DOMESA counter to pay for VISA delivery. Overall it was quite painless, and while I felt pretty confident there would be no problems, I didn´t want again to be overly confident. Should have the VISA in 8 days and should be in Texas heat by August 13. Planning a combination welcome and birthday party for her on the 20th....
