Review Topic: K1 Visa

Shortly before 9:30, so I headed to the office of Dr. Slattery (very nice). The secretary took care of me right away, some paperwork anything very long. She needs the passport and health card and a photo ID. A few minutes of patience in the waiting room and the doctor picked me up. He looks if my vaccinations are up to date, a few questions, he weighs me, measures me, looks at my eyes, my teeth, my stomach ... a routine visit. After that, I went to the lab across the street to the analysis of blood. Then, three blocks away towards the radiology for chest X-ray, They gave it to me right away. Everything is ok, I left and I returned to 3pm with the chest X-ray .I gave them to the Secretary and I again waited in the waiting room. She returned minutes later with all documents, including the famous closed envelope which should not be opened. I know it may seem a little hassle of having to go to three different locations for all examinations and having to return later in the day to retrieve them but is very well organized and it was quickly supported. One has the impression of being a low priority. At the same time, given the price of the examination (€ 170) I think we can be a priority.
Go to the embassy at 1pm. No need to go too soon it seems they do not let you enter. I printed a plan but still a little lost in the subway exit. I started to panic because I see the time ahead and I did not know how much travel time I had to do. And then, "mode boulet", I had not chosen the ideal shoes. In short, I end up not coming. I am looking for my convocation. I read somewhere that it should be taken but if it did not, no big deal because they have a list of persons who are summoned. So I present my passport to the first guard who is asking for the convocation and then impossible to find it! A huge wave of panic came over me about to have a nervous breakdown when the guard told me that he needs it because he does not have a list for the fiancé visa. I sit on the side and drop all my stuff in-ground and looking across the F****** convocation that I am absolutely sure I took with me but could not find it.. AHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! And then I see it in a sorry state because of the previous day. Yes, because I have not specified but my little obstacle course to do all my exams I did it in torrential rain (I exaggerate we are in Paris, not in India during the monsoon season, lol)

Anyway, I felt that my brain oxygenated again. I can breathe. After this strong emotion, I head through security where they search the bags, keep all electronic devices and all drinks and food .Once inside, how can I say this .... ? "Welcome to the USA", with of course the American flag and the photo of Barack and Hillary Clinton ... You are given a number by which it will be called every time.

Relatively empty at the start, the room was quickly filled. First call is to check at the counter just convocation. Second call at the counter, the lady gives me back some documents that we sent with the Form I-129F. Then she asked me for more, asked some questions and explain more of the "festivities" once we are married. She told me that once married there and I could not return until 2 or 3 years because the demand for travel authorization is rarely granted, SUPER!
Then third call is the Consul, this is not at all what I expected, She is in a box like the others. There is nothing to distinguish her. I expected something more formal and more private. I greeted her in French so she speaks French.

Very fast. She asked me where I met Steven, what I want to do once there, if I met his family, where his parents live and when is what we'll get married. She asked me if I had questions, I asked her if it was OK, she was not 100% positive because I think they allow themselves time to think about it after the interview, but in principle she said it should not be a problem. She did not demand anything as evidence that our continued relationship. they bother to collect piles of documents that ultimately they do not even look at!!
If all goes well, I should get my visa next week!
I'll keep you posted!
