Aprobado! The words that I'd never thought I'd hear...the day I never thought would come!!!

We opted to stay at Jardin de Teatro like all the pros have recommended on here and it's a better bet than staying at Courtyard Marriott (double the cost) when they're the same exact distance from the embassy (one block) and both comfortable. We stayed up late the night before our Cita to prepare plus we had insomnia! Needless to say we didn't want to get up for the 6:45 appointment. We got in line at 6:15 am which racked my nerves because there were about 100 people ahead of us and I thought we would "miss the Cita"...rewind, my fiance almost got lured by the "buscarones" but i knew better thanks to VJ...the person was trying to lead him down the street from the consulate and I was like see ya I'm getting in line here lol I made him ask the Guards what we should do and they said "your at the consulate..why would you go down the street"...it was funny. Once in line it moved slow. They separated the men from women..once in the building around 6:45 am we sat in the infamous metal benches. It was less intimidating then I thought...i didn't keep track of when I was called for this and that, however the initial turning in of paperwork and fingerprinting was pretty quick. They were really concerned if my fiance's daughter was traveling now or later and wanted us to be sure about how to proceed with that if need be (which was nice). We had to turn in all the DS forms, medical results, receipts, cedula, and birth certificates upfront. Then we paid the $210. We returned for Amancio to do his fingerprints..then we waited about an hour to be interviewed. The lines for the interview windows were slow and that is the only "complaint". The workers were friendly and the steps were clear as crystal. The numbers were clearly indicated on the display screen so you couldn't miss that. We were finally called to that infamous #24 window so I thought DOOMED!!! cuz no one else was called there. We got to the window and were greeted by a friendly American woman..kind of young. She swore us in and because she was speaking in Spanish I missed the cue lol. She heard my fiance talking in English so she said "ohhh you speak English" to which he modestly replied "some" yet he preferred to interview in Spanish. The lady was warm..not intimidating..and straight to the point. The limited questions were as follows:

1) (to him) How did you meet? also about his job...
2) (to me) what made you vacation in DR 1st time? I told her...then I had to laugh because she said..were you and your friends trying to party and meet men? haha! maybe...no i said "no just have a good time and celebrate our bdays and relax"....
3) (to me) where do you work in florida?
4) (to him) what do you plan to do in the US? he said work and go to school
5)lastly...she asked him his plans for his daughter for which he said he wants to send for her when she's older and she went over the process for doing this..

She said..well I'm going to approve you! My jaw dropped!!!!!!!!!!! She didn't ask for one document or piece of evidence which can only mean our submission was pretty solid?! I was ecstatic...She explained about the 90 days and how there is 6 months to act on the approved visa. She said any questions? and good luck...Then we were in awe and went to pay Domex. We were in dream land til we walked out the doors and had lunch then it finally sunk in and we were enamored.

My advice....don't have a heart attack...it's not as threatening as you hear...stay away from the buscarones...if i said that right lol...if you lose your passport photos the night before like we did they offer on the spot passport replacement photos for 200 pesos....if you need to make a quick copy they only will charge 5 pesos. Bring a snack if you can..we forgot!

Now I'm waiting to pick up from Domex...if he doesn't get it by next week he will follow a week or two behind me...I'm glad its over..now onto the getting settled in and AOS drama

Thanks Everyone!!!!
