Here are Lena's exact words of her Kiev, US Embassy interview review:
"It is necessary to be at 6 Pimenenko Street near the exact time of your scheduled interview and you will see that there will be many many people in lines. An Embassy worker stays in the street and will give you direction and tell you which line to wait. Show this man your invitation letter which was enclosed with Packet 4. The man told me, "Ok, you can go in without waiting." Lena came to Kiev with a friend and she was able to leave her mobile phone, purse and other personal items with her friend who would wait for her in the street. Otherwise, you will need extra money to pay for storage."
"When I came inside, I was sent to a waiting room for other K-1 people. There were 6 of us in this room waiting for visas. The first window is in this room. I sat close to the window and when no one was standing there, I approached this window. The man spoke to me in Ukrainian. He requested my documents including my passport and original birth certificate, police report and 2 5x5 photos. If you had a previous marriage and divorce, you must provide originals. I translated most of my documents into English but was not asked for them. The man then asked for Igor's documents, the I-134, Fiancee Letter of Intent, the letter from his job and tax documents. He did not ask for Igor's previous marriage and divorce documents. This was very interesting to me. Also he wanted to see our Skype, emails, photos of us together and greeting cards (Don't be shy, take more documents to the interview rather than less). After this review, he sent me to the next windo to pay the 350 USD visa fee. Then I presented him with the receipt of payment. I sat down until called again to be fingerprinted - both hands! Then after a short time the Counsular Officer called my name and I went to stand in front of his window. After a pleasant greeting, he asked me my fiance's name, where he works, does he have children, how many, do I have children and will the children be going to the US with me? Finally, he asked where and when did we meet each other?
Then he said pleasantly CONGRATULATIONS and handed me a pink approval notice. I then paid 60 gryvnas for shipping my passport, some original documents to my apartment. I was told it takes up to 5 business days to receive the visa. You will be asked for your telephone number for tracking purposes."
"When talking with the Counsular Officer, I was not nervous or afraid. The man put me at ease and he was kind. I felt a good energy from him. He was a nice man, simpatico and he spoke very good Russian with me. He will speak with you in English if this is your preference. The Embassy has good vibes (my word) and I felt comfortable throughout the process."
"As soon as I came through the Embassy doors to the street, I immediately called my Igor with the great news. Everybody! Please have a food life and I hope everything will be ok and good luck for everybody who follows me! Thank you US Embassy, Kiev - NOW I CAN BE WITH MY BELOVED MAN."
