I received my interview schedule back in March. I asked the consulate to reschedule it for May. I was told to wait for a month and then send them an email for reschedule. Since I did not want to wait I flew to China and went to the interview with my wife. The first day we wait few hours to hand in the document then was told our interview was cancelled. We never received any email saying our interview was cancelled but there was nothing else we could do.
We sent them an email in April to schedule the interview. I then email them every week asking for an update. They were very patient and asked me to wait. I finally got the interview at the date I wanted.
We were at the consulate at noon time, and handed in our document and got out at about 2pm. Since I sent them so many emails the clerks knew the situation of my wife already. We went back there the next morning at 7:20am for the interview. My wife did not get to interview till after 10am and the interview process only took about 5 minutes. The officer asked her common questions like what is her name? What are you going to do when you go to the US? Since my wife speaks English there was no problem communicating. She told me the lady next to her needed interpretation and it made the process more complicated for the lady. She finally got approved at about 10:15 and she texted me with the result. She then waited to fill out the EMS form which took almost 2 hours. She told me that there were about 80 people on the line but there were only two clerks working at the counter. At about 12:30 she was able to fill out the form.
Overall the consulate staffs are very helpful. The interview process is smooth beside the wait time.
