You must attend this interview. I went to Cuba for the interview and I recommend others do the same. Much like the other reviews found here, at 6:30 am the cuban officials working for the US interest section come out to the park near the embassy to start calling names on a prepared list. They start with Visitors and then Immigrant visas. Your beneficiary's Carnet will collected when their name is called. Before you go in, they will return it to the beneficiary.
Nothing can be inside an envelope. They will open it. So dont bother sealing the medical exam.
As a US citizen, you will be asked to fill a form with name, address and etc. Easy stuff.
Once inside you will be asked to submit your evidence at a window after they call your name. Bring a TON of evidence. Even if they tell you it is too much, you will be given time to prepare yourself before they take the evidence. Once you submit the evidence, they will call you for the beneficiary's fingerprints on the other side of the room. After that is done, the interviews will begin.
The interview was really simple, like when we had met for the first time, about the benficiary's occupation and what does it entail. I can tell that their opinion and questions about your case comes from the evidence you submit to the officer prior to the interview. I say this because before each interview, the officer will check over the case. I believe this directly affects how many and what questions you will get. My interview took no longer than 1 and a half minutes. And my visa will be ready to be picked up in a couple of days.
I suggest you bring tons of evidence people. They are on the lookout for people trying to get out of the country. Be prepared emotionally as many people will be crying. This is a great staff! A great experience overall.
Although it didnt apply to me, they said I could bring my examen medico on a future date if I didnt have it at the time of the interview. It would result in a deferral for the visa but the interview would still happen.
Overall, a graet experience. I wish i didnt have to wait so long. It's done and we're happy
The people are extremely nice. They look forward to receiving legitmate cases.
