Jiayang was very nervous about the interview and was stressed about her command of the English language. She arrived at the consulate very early and was admitted around 7:30 a.m. When her name was finally called she spoke with an American woman who conducted the interview. According to Jiayang the interview only lasted a few minutes and she was asked only about five questions.
1. How did we meet?
2. How many children do I have, their names, sexes, etc.
3. What kind of work do I do.
4. Does he speak Chinese?
5. How do you communicate with each other?
During the interview the official looked at our photos, about 100 pages of Yahoo IM transcripts Jiayang had and made small talk with Jiayang. She laughed when Jiayang replied to her question, "What do you like about your fiancee?" by saying he is a good man. She then told her she was approved javascript:emoticon('') and gave her the pink paper and told her to come back on Tuesday of next week to get her passport back with the new visa inside. Jiayang says the official was very nice and smiled and laughed during the interview.
