My whole Vancouver experience was great!
First, I had my Medical Appt. at Woking Medical, on Wednesday. My mom and I arrived at the the clinic at about 5 am. We parked right next to the clinic, in the parking spots right off of the street...but beware it is expensive! We bought 5 hrs and it cost $30!
We waited until one other couple got in line, about 5:20, and then we got in line too. They were from VisaJourney also! So it was nice to be able to talk to someone and compare experiences. About 20 mins later, more people started to show up and the line got quite long, so I was glad we got there when we did. At about 6:15, two ladies showed up to open the gates and let us in. They told us to remain in line, however quite a few cut the line! (People can be so rude.) We took an elevator up into the main waiting room. The couple in front of us were still able to get No. 1, and he was nice enough to grab us No. 2 before anyone else did. We went back to our seats and then a few minutes later, a lady came out to give us instruction. We then got back in line, according to our numbers, grabbed our forms, and sat back down to fill them out. After filling out the forms, I gave them back to the lady at the desk, along with my photos, passport, and vaccine records. I was then told to go through a couple doors and wait by the lab to have my blood taken. The lab opened at 7 and they took us in groups of 5, according to our numbers. I gave the nurse the copy of my passport and she took my blood. After that, I went back to the main waiting room to wait for my xray. The xray place opened at 7:30. They again called us in in groups according to our numbers. We were told to change in little cubicles into hospital gowns, from the waist up. I never once had to stand with other people in my gown. I was called by name and went quickly into the xray room, and then quickly back into the change room to get dressed again. Then, I went back to the waiting room to be called for my exam. The nurse took me into a private room and gave me instructions to strip down to my underwear and lay on the table under a paper sheet. She left while I did so, and then the doctor came in, WITH the nurse, which made me feel a little more comfortable  She stayed there the whole time while he checked me over. And he was very friendly and conversed with me the whole exam, so it wasn't as awkward After the exam, another nurse took my payment, gave me back my passport, took my height and weight, and did a quick eye exam with those chart things.
I was out of there by 8:15! So much for $30 worth of parking! At 1:30 we went back to get my results. I had them within 10 minutes.
The next day, Thursday, was my interview, at 10 am. I arrived at the consulate about 9:30. It was easy to see where to go, around the side, lots of people in line! There were signs telling us where to line up, but there was also a lady who worked there so she can direct you in case you're not sure. Wear warm clothes, because we waited outside for at least an hour! They called people in one at a time and escorted everyone to where they needed to go. I was finally called in. I gave them my passport, binder full of stuff, purse and jacket. They searched everything and then I went through a metal detector. I was given back my stuff and a lady came down to escort me up to the elevators. There she handed me off to another guard who was already with a group of people, and then he escorted us up to the 20th floor. We all took a seat in the waiting room and a few minutes later I was called up to window B. I gave the man my passport, forms, affidavits of support, letters of intent, police check, birth certificate, photos. He told me to take a seat. Another 5 minutes later, he called me back up to get a number. Then I waited....for about two hours! Bring a book! Finally my number was called and I was told to go to window #4. The interviewer had my original package I submitted as well as everything I had given the man at window B. He asked me who I was marrying, made me take an oath to tell the truth, took my fingerprints, made me sign something and then asked me a few questions: Where I was moving to, if my fiance worked, what I did for work, where I live now, how we met, etc. He then said, "ok i think this all looks good, I'll just pass you back to my colleague." And I said, "So...I'm approved?" And he replied "Yep, you're good to go!" The whole thing took about 5 minutes, he never once looked at any of the evidence I brought with me, and he barely glanced at anything else!
So with a big smile on my face, I went back to Window B, where the guy told me about DHL and to expect my passport and visa in the mail by early next week.
YAY!
