My interview was on Thursday, April 19, 2011 and my fiance was with me. We were allowed inside 5 minutes before 1pm.
I was pretty nervous, but felt confident at the same time since I was with my love. Everything went pretty fast. I don't even remember exactly the order in which things happened (chuckle), but I'll try to add a few words:
1. Our papers were taken by a very nice lady: financial support package, medical, birth certificate and police certificate, proof of relationship yada, yada. We were in such a hurry, I even forgot to give them all the proof. We prepared lots, but I found myself handing them the photos, some skype screen shots, conversations from messenger and skype call records. We had so much more(boarding passes, receipts, engagement ring receipt, phone records etc), but they must have thought it's enough, they didn't need more. :P
2. The interview was a breeze! Like... really really easy. The easiest part of the process. The consular officer was a man, very nice man. He was smiling all the time and our interview was more like a chitchat. He made me raise my right hand and swear everything I say is true and that I'll get married within 90 days, in the US.
3. The questions asked were: How did you meet? I said through my cousin, my fiance and my cousin both graduated from the same university. Then he asked what university and then my fiance answered. He then asked if he moved to the US through the lottery and he said yes. The CO asked my fiance if he likes living in the USA and he said yes and that it has been a very nice experience so far.
Then he asked: How long have you been together? I said: Almost 4 years. He said: Oh, it must have been had for both of you. We said: Yes, which is why we've been talking daily and we've seen each other pretty often.
He asked me when did my fiance propose. I said it happened for my birthday, in March 2010. He liked my ring, he looked at it several times. :P
The last thing was about the wedding. He asked us if we're going to have 2, one in the USA and one in Romania and, of course, we said Yes.
It was veeeery fast. Lightning fast. I think it was less than 3 minutes.
He said we're APPROVED! And we picked up the passport with the visa + the sealed envelope the next day(they had some problems printing the visa the same day).
The Consulate in Bucharest is one of the fastest and easiest consulates to go through! We're so pleasantly suprised!
