our interview was on april 6, 2011 @ 6am.
we stayed at the jardine del teatro hotel which was half a block a way from the embassy. the owner was a very nice attentive lady, and the place is safe, the hotel room costs approx. 60 dollars for one night.
We had arrived at the embassy at 550 am and there was a ine outside, we were told where to stand in line. although in past reviews we read that there were people soliciting outside, but we were not bothered at all. we were called in around 630am, and waited for our names to be called. we were called at about 7am. and we were told that we had the wrong form filled out. the embassy had sent my fiance the wrong packet with form ds 160 which was not what was needed. so we had to leave the consul and print out the form ds-156 at an office we found a block away and they charged us 1,000 pesos. we returned to the consul about 40 minutes later and handed in the proper form.
approx. 830am they called us for her fingerprints, and we went to sit down again. at approx. 930am we were called to the window for our interview. he was a young male with glasses. He asked my fiance to wait outside while he asked me the following questions. I noticed he had the original packet i sent in to uscis in his hands. at this time He proceeded to ask me:
1.my occupation
2.where did i meet my fiance
3. did i meet her family
I explained to him that i met my fiance on a dating website, and he asked me why did i search for a dominican woman. i explained that i have family in d.r. and i have been on visits since i was 1 year old, and i have a thing for dominican woman, he began to laugh. i also explained that i love to dance and i prefer a dominican woman that dances bachata, merengue, etc. he began to laugh some more! he said ok send your fiance in...
he had asked her the same questions as me, he also asked her if i knew how to dance, and if i dance well, my fiance said he dance extremely well, and that i couldnt be with a woman that can't dance! lol! he began cracking up, and said ok your visa is approved!! I was surprised that he did not ask us for one piece of informnation we gathered, not one... after that we waited in line and paid the domex fee and were on our way!!
we were dressed casual with dress pants, and shoes, and a nice shirt. there were people dressed with suits, and there were people dressed very casual. on the inside it is open air with huge fans, the weather was wonderful, with a nice breeze, so we were not hot at all.
