Interview was at 7:45am (and I just realized that in the morning for some reason we thought it was at 7:30) at 26 Federal Plaza building. We live in Queens so I underestimated the commute a little but got there in time. Thankfully there was no line outside the building or in the security line. We rushed to the 8th floor and presented our appointment letter and was asked to wait. 7-10 minutes later my name was called. An African American IO received us and took us to the office. She made us take the Oath and we sat down. She asked for the IDs and Passports and then asked for the original Marriage Certificate so I confirmed that she meant the License.
She was friendly but to-the-point the whole time. She asked if we have any joint accounts/bank statements and we gave her the statements from AMEX, Checking Account, 2010 Tax Returns. She then asked if we rent or have our place, we told her that we rent and gave her the copy of the lease with Utilities bill and some evidence showing that we have been together since 2006. She asked if we had any type of insurance so we gave her the copy of the Insurance card where I was the dependent. Each time she asked for a piece of document, we gave her more...
She then said if we have any pictures and wife brought an album that she had put together last night. As the IO was flipping the pages, (USC) wife quickly described where the pictures were taken. IO was intrigued by the Lei's (Hawaiian flower necklace) that wife and I were wearing during out honeymoon in Hawaii. We talked a bit about the length of the trip and how long it was for us, from NYC. I also gave her the itineraries from 2006 to 2011, though she had not asked, and talked about the upcoming Puerto Rico trip. IO was interested in where we were stayed in PR and was surprised that people actually stay at Vieques Island.
She then said that she will look at the information provided while we wait in the waiting area. 5 minutes later she called us and told me that she has stamped I-551 which is just like the GC (I knew) and we thanked her for her consideration and time, and left at about 8:10am. (IO didn't mention the Conditional GC part while showing the stamp but I am guessing it will be on the paper I get)
Overall, this was by far the smoothest experience we both ever had with the Immigrations Services. The IO was really nice and patient.
