It was a very snowy start to our morning. Interview was scheduled for 9am, but as line ups can start early we wanted to be there by 7:30. It took awhile to get our car out of he hotel parking garage, even though our hotel was a 5 min drive (test run night before) it took well over 20min to drive, park and get to the Consulate.
We arrived at the Consulate at 7:50 and had to wait for the security guards to let us through the doors. I had my binder with evidence, a small photo album and the x-ray in a reused shopping bag. These are allowed in the building but you aren't allowed any type of purses or handbags. After checking our IDs and screened throuh metal detectors, we were told to wait in the room for the elevator to arrive. We walked down the stars and there was a room fill of people...the elevator arrived and since we were already on the move, we were one of the first ones in. As we were told to do, being at the back of the elevator was the plan as the doors open at the back. A family got in front of us first, but we got the second ticket after you show the confirmation letter.

We sat down in the middle of the room, for maybe around 5 min. Our number was called and we went to a room with booths and talked to a lady bwhine some glass. She didn't need anything fromus for documents as they had all my original documents, we did submit my husband's 2010 W2 but it wasn't required. She took my digital fingerprints and sent me back to he room to wait for my name to be called. We sat for about 3min then was sent to another room that look like the first one, a man behind glass in the booth.
He was very nice, asked us to swear to the truth and confimed my husband and I's names. He asked how we met, commented on how it was the old fashion way and not online. Other questions: why did you decide to do this visa? Asked my husband where he worked and lived? What do I do for work and what I plan to do for work in the US? As he is handing back my original documents...he says "based on the information you have provided, we can tell you Welcome to the United States" We smiled and thanked him and left the room.
It was very easy, straightforward, and less than 45min from when we arrived to when we go to the car.
