Dominican Republic | Review on February 26, 2011: | Gordito and Me

So we arrived at the Consulate bring and shinny, me with my huge belly. I was not allowed to sit by any of the poles or on the ground on the line outside so all the people there started protesting and the security gaurd passed us to the front of the line. Went inside had a seat and waited a few hours. No cell phones, or electronics or much of anything else allowed to leave it in the car and park in a secure lot.
I napped through most of the sitting uncomfortably since I was heavily pregnant. When we were finally called we went to a very inprivate booth next to other people and were asked questions. since im so short the interviewer was not able to see i was pregnant. He asked a lot fo questions about how we met, how my husband proposed. How many times we see each other since we were married which was practically weekly, didnt really ask to see wedding pictures. When he saw I was pregnant he calmed down significantly and called his supervisor over, asked us to wait, came back asked 2 or 3 more questions and then said congradulations your approved. We waited on another line to hand over the package with the passports to the currier. Two things the guy kept saying my name wrong and my husband kept correcting him. Don't know if it was on purpose. He really wasnt good at spanish so maybe he was asking so many questions cause he wasnt getting what he wanted.
He also asked if we brought my step-son which we didnt because it said it was unneccesary to bring him and asked questions about the relationship between the mother of my step-son and him and why they didnt work out. We did have the court signed sole custody order for my step son which he asked to see. All in all God blessed us with a fair interviewer.
