First Off...While you are waiting in the morning to be let in a guy from the photocopy shop across the street will come over and try to tell you that you need a copy of your passport and cedula to give to Domesa...this is a LIE! The only reason you would need a copy of your passport is if you forgot to bring your cedula to show to Domesa.
Well...pretty standard experience...got to the embassy at 5:30 am and there were already 7 people in line. At about 6:15-6:30 they began telling us how to line up out front (line 3 for resident visas). Once in line we went through security and then went inside to window 40 and got our folder. Once the docs. are organized in the folder you go back up and wait for her to approve the contents of your folder. My husband was called 3rd or 4th up to the window so they could return duplicate docs. and give him a sort of preliminary interview. She asked him were we met, who the co-sponsor was (my dad), how many times had he been to the US, which was his longest stay there, if I was present and my name.
About 30-45 min. later he was called up to window 2 for fingerprints (they do all the fingerprinting at window 2). We then waited 2 hours and my husband was called up for his interview a little before 11 am. She asked him where we met, my age, when was my first trip to Colombia, how long would I be in Colombia this time, if he was a student at Miami University, if I was also a student there when we met, in what profession he planned on working in and when we got married. The interviewer then asked to speak with me and she asked where we met, if we were done with our Masters, the length of each trip to Colombia, where my husband currently works in Colombia, if either of us had been married before, if we have any children and if we would be living with my father. She then said that everything was in order and the visa had been approved!!!!!
The interviewer was very polite and friendly. She smiled a lot and was not intimidating whatsoever. All docs. we gave then in the folder were returned to us the first time he was called up....and they also gave us a lot of the docs. we had sent to NVC. I had brought the new W-2`s from 2010 and other new docs. but I was never asked to show any of them. They NEVER asked to see any proof of the relationship at all! No photos, chats, emails, phone records...NOTHING at all! You definitely need to have all of that ready, but I was just astounded that they never asked to see it especially after working so hard putting it all together.
