We had generally good service from the Riyadh embassy. There were a couple of glitches. Our initial processing was delayed as we were married in the UAE and the embassy said that our marriage documents (according to their references) were incomplete (no Sharia court registration) and we had to verify that our marriage was properly registered. Prior to this, we did what the consulate in Dubai told us was required and got the required stamps, etc. We then hired a lawyer in Dubai, who told us that our documents were in order, and Sharia court registration is not required for non-Muslim marriages. At this point, the embassy sent an email to the embassy in Abu Dhabi asking if our documents were OK. Abu Dhabi embassy said yes, and we were allowed to submit our package. The embassy could have done this earlier and saved us 3 weeks of time and $300! The package 3 and 4 took about 1 month to reach us via Saudi mail, which put us in something of a time bind in January. Also, the embassy sent some old information in the package 4. When we went for the interview, we were told we needed a Saudi police report. The interview went well, we got the police report (another 3 week delay), and sent the report and my wife's passport to the embassy and received the visa. During the process, the embassy staff was helpful and considerate. We did find that they were very good at answering emails but not so good at returning phone messages.
